ExoplanetZ
Hey, I'm a anime series creator. I'm currently working on my series "Exoplanet Z". It's an animated-ish (some scenes are more animated than others) series from a comic I drew over 10 years ago. It is a fantasy, sci-fi, horror, drama, comedy, series.

My first AI animated film!

Posted by ExoplanetZ - 3 days ago

This is a scene I took from episode 3 of my Exoplanet Z series and turned it into a fully animated short with the help of AI.😊 There a part in this scene where Haiper came in real helpful with a transition during the first person sequence.

It's the first short film I made with the help of AI and the first film I submitted to the "largest AI film festival" Project Odyssey.

If you'd like to check out the series. It's on YouTube and my page: https://www.youtube.com/@ExoplanetZ/community

Please, let me know what you think of this short, if you have the time. I would appreciate it.

@ExoplanetZ Thanks.

I must admit that, despite following you, I still did not find the time to watch 'EXOPLANET Z' 1 or 2 in full. I like the voice acting and your writing very much, though. Having full animation rather than an 'Afterworld'*-esque slideshow 'would' be neat, but the animation in the video you linked to looks... Erm... "not particularly visually pleasing to me personally..." I just don't like how the characters are crudely 'reshaped' when they move.

I'm also pretty sure you'd get the video unpublished on NG, depending on how much of the work the AI does... Details here: https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/terms-of-use/movie-guidelines#wiki_toc_3
In doubt, ask a Movie Portal Moderator beforehand. ( https://www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-information/site-moderation#wiki_toc_2 )

Thank you very much. I can see how the videos lengths can come across as intimidating sometimes, also, the fact that they aren't fully animated most of the time probably turns a lot of people off of it before they even give the story a chance.

It's a fair insight though. I'm not a big fan of the slideshow style either, but it's what I can manage with my time and sometimes I'll throw some fully animated takes in an episode (if I have extra time I wanna play around with or just 'cause).
It still takes me a about a year to get 1 episode out, which makes me believe most people lose interest by the time the next episode is out.

This series has it's supporters whom I'm very happy for and I've had a few people tell me it "inspired" them to do their own thing and how much they love certain characters and are even rooting for some. I love reading/hearing how my series and characters connected with viewers. It gives me a boost of motivation, but what gives me the most motivation to keep making episodes is wanting to share my character's stories, but I don't like taking years to get my character's stories out there. I feel like eventually, I will have played their stories over and over in my head enough times to where I might lose interest (to try and help with this, I usually will try not to think about certain scenes or their stories too much) so I've been playing around with AI to help do the animations and other stuff to make the process easier on me and maybe faster.
I know how to animate (I can even send you a link to a small part of an animation I did for episode 4 that I'm currently working on), I'm just a "slow drawer" and it takes me forever.

And you're right, I don't like how AI still "reshapes" the character's when they move either, but I still see it as a step closer to making a fully animated episode and I've been looking into how to train my own loRA on my art and character's so I can maybe refine that wonky look.

And thank you for sharing the links. I actually read the AI terms before publishing and it looks like that video I used AI in is following the rules. It's not a slide show with AI stills, and "If you are an artist who is using AI to assist you in your process, this is most likely fine." which all the frames used in that video were of my models I drew/edited and I took my frames and animated them using AI.
That was a scene I took from episode 3 and animated with AI for a AI film festival.
I will upload episode 3 on here tomorrow sometime, and you can check out the scene in it's original form if you'd like.
Ep4 will have AI animated scenes much like that short AI film as well, but with Ep5, I'll have to ask a Movie Portal Moderator beforehand, because the way I think I'll make that episode might be more AI influenced trained off my art and characters, but the voice over will still be done by me and my voice actor buds and the story and scripts will still be written by me, as usually, so I don't know about ep5 yet.

Sorry for the book, I just felt like I should be detailed in what I'm trying to say sometimes. But it really does put a smile on my face to read that you like my writing, even if you're my only fan on here, and I appreciate your constructive criticism. It brings me insight and I just hope I didn't scare you away with this long message. xD
